Pathway Nurse of the Year Award
2024 Pathway Nurse of the Year Awards
Do you work with a nurse leader, direct care nurse or nurse partner who has positively impacted the practice environment?
The Pathway Nurse of the Year Award™ recognizes the outstanding contributions of one nurse leader, one direct care nurse and one nurse partner globally from Pathway-designated organizations, who have positively impacted the practice environment by role modeling exceptional professionalism and leadership in working collaboratively with team members and integrating clinical expertise with compassionate patient/resident interactions.
Eligibility Criteria
ANCC will accept nominations for nurse leaders, direct care nurses or nurse partners from organizations with active Pathway to Excellence designation. An individual winner can receive the award once in a lifetime.
The nurse leader nominee must be a registered nurse responsible for the supervision of nurses and other health care providers who deliver direct patient/resident nursing care at a Pathway-designated organization at the time of submission.
The direct care nurse nominee must be a nurse whose primary responsibility is the provision of direct patient care at a Pathway-designated organization at the time of submission. This includes nurses at every level who provide direct patient care at least 50 percent of the time.
The nurse partner nominee must be a non-nurse who is eligible to participate in the validation survey of the Pathway to Excellence appraisal process. This is only for non-nurse midwives from Pathway-designated organizations outside of the United States and certified nursing assistant/nursing aide from long-term care facilities at the time of submission.
- For purposes of Pathway, a midwife is a person who has successfully completed a midwifery education program based on the International Confederation of Midwives Essential Competencies for Basic Midwifery Practice and the framework of the ICM Global Standards for Midwifery Education and is recognized in the country where it is located; who has acquired the requisite qualifications to be registered and/or legally licensed to practice and use the title “midwife”, and who demonstrates competency in the practice of midwifery.
- For purposes of Pathway, a certified nursing assistant/nursing aide that helps residents with direct health care needs, under the supervision of a nurse in a long-term care facility.
Nominees, regardless of tenure and hours worked, from any site included in the Pathway to Excellence application are eligible.
ANCC does not charge an entry fee for nomination submission.
