Nurse Leader, Philanthropist, and Retired Executive, Jeannine Rivet Increases Funding on Namesake Fellowship Award

SILVER SPRING, MD – Today, the American Nurses Foundation (the Foundation) announced a new endowment to permanently fund the Jeannine Rivet National Leadership Award through a generous contribution of $250,000 by Jeannine Rivet. The annual fellowship was originally established as a $100,000 award to be distributed over 10 years to honor Jeannine’s career as part of a partnership between the Foundation and the United Health Foundation (UHF), the philanthropic foundation of UnitedHealth Group. This endowment was announced during the Foundation’s annual Donor Luncheon at the American Nurses Association’s annual Membership Assembly. Jeannine Rivet, MPH, RN, FAAN, retired executive vice president of UnitedHealth Group, shared her hope for supporting the future of nursing leadership through the new endowment.
“This award is representative of not only my legacy, but the legacy of the awardees and what they will contribute in the future and how many other people they will impact,” said Jeannine Rivet. “I have had the privilege of being involved in the review process for selection of applicants and it’s amazing to see these talented, compassionate people and what they’ve done and could do in the future. The more that I have been involved, the more I want to see this continue. I am committed to endowing this award specifically for nurse leaders because of the impact they will have in the future and the impact that they will have on many others along the way.”

The Leadership Award was first bestowed in 2018 and is currently in its 5th year. Jeannine’s gift will ensure the fellowship continues into the foreseeable future.
