ANA Stands in Solidarity with Global Nursing Community During Humanitarian Crises
MEDIA CONTACTS: Newsroom@ana.org
SILVER SPRING – MD – The American Nurses Association (ANA) vehemently condemns all acts of violence, terrorism, and cultural and religious discrimination. ANA is deeply concerned by the sheer loss of life and terror gripping the lives of civilians in Gaza and Israel as well as all other communities globally experiencing humanitarian crises. During times of great conflict, the magnitude of ongoing violence causes great burden to hospitals, overwhelming health care professionals and exacerbating the severe lack of resources needed to care for victims and patients. ANA urges all parties, leaders, and policymakers to respect and consider the legal obligations of international humanitarian law to protect both access to care for civilians and health care workers who are risking their lives to provide essential care. We stand in solidarity with the International Council of Nurses and urge those wishing to support nurses and all frontline providers in regions experiencing crises to take part in their #NURSESFORPEACE campaign and to donate to those impacted via the ICN Humanitarian Fund.
