ANA President Ernest J. Grant Lands on Modern Healthcare’s 50 Most Influential Leaders
The American Nurses Association (ANA), the premier organization representing the interests of the nation’s more than 4.3 million nurses, is proud to announce that ANA President Ernest J. Grant, PhD, RN, FAAN, was named among Modern Healthcare's 50 Most Influential Clinical Executives for 2022. This list honors health care leaders who are deemed by their peers and the senior editors of Modern Healthcare to be paving the way to better health through their executive responsibility, leadership qualities, innovation, community service, and achievements.
This special accolade comes as Dr. Grant continues to lead the nursing profession through the COVID-19 pandemic - one of the most challenging and unprecedented global health crises in history, and for the nursing profession. He is an exemplary and dynamic leader, guiding the nation’s nurses through challenges presented by COVID-19, such as staffing shortages, burnout, frustration, an insufficient supply of personal protective equipment, and many other longstanding work environment issues that predate the pandemic. When COVID-19 vaccines were being developed, Dr. Grant did not hesitate to volunteer for a phase III clinical trial and to promote the safety of vaccines to skeptical communities of color. He continues to urge all eligible adults and children to get vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19.
Dr. Grant is the embodiment of core nursing values as he advocates for all nurses and works to ensure that every voice is heard, every color represented, and that every nurse can have ‘a seat at the table’.
This year’s honorees also included more than a dozen impressive nurse leaders. Among their collective accolades, these individuals oversaw efforts to protect front line health care professionals’ physical and mental health and developed technologies and processes that improve patient outcomes.
