ANCC Certification Accreditation Manager Diane Thompkins Receives the 2020 Friend of NONPF Award

SILVER SPRING, MD - The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), which promotes excellence in nursing and health care globally through credentialing programs, is pleased to announce that Certification Accreditation Manager Diane Thompkins, MS, RN, has been recognized by the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF) with the 2020 Friend of NONPF Award.
The annual award is presented by NONPF and celebrates the work of nurses who make significant contributions to NONPF. Previous winners have volunteered at NONPF meetings, promoted NONPF’s mission, developed products, and even sponsored awards.
Thompkins was selected by the NONPF Board of Directors for her years long work with the group, and for her ongoing commitment to the pursuit of quality nurse practitioner education.
“We are thrilled that NONPF has recognized Diane Thompkins with the Friend of NONPF Award for her outstanding contributions to the organization", said ANCC Senior Vice President for Accreditation, Certification, Measurement, and the Institute for Credentialing Research and Quality Management Kathy Chappell, PhD, RN, FNAP, FAAN. “Diane has long been a recognized champion for Nurse Practitioners and their faculty, working tirelessly on their behalf at ANCC. Always a thoughtful contributor to any discussion, Diane embodies the values of integrity and excellence in all her work and we are so pleased that NONPF has chosen this year, the Year of the Nurse, to recognize Diane.”
As Certification Accreditation Manager, Thompkins has provided guidance to ANCC leadership and staff on APRN board certification, in addition to evaluating the complex certification applications for eligibility determination. She has also managed all elements of accreditation of certification programs in accordance with the standards set by the Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing Certification (ABSNC) and National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA).

Thompkins holds a BSN from the State University of New York at Buffalo, a certificate in Flight Nursing from the School of Aerospace Medicine at Brooks Air Force Base, and a Master of Science, Nursing Education from the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
