American Nurses Association Appoints ANCC Board Members

The American Nurses Association’s Board of Directors has announced the appointment of three directors to the American Nurses Credentialing Center Board. They will serve from January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2020.
Mary A. Graff, MSN, RN, NEA-BC
Graff, who serves as board secretary, has been reappointed to a third term on the board. She is the immediate Past President of the North Carolina Nurses Association (NCNA), a trustee of the North Carolina Foundation for Nursing and Chair of the NCNA Leadership Development Committee. She was employed at Duke Raleigh Hospital from 1988 until her retirement in 2014. During her tenure at Duke Raleigh Hospital she held several leadership positions including Clinical Operations Director of Critical Care and CV Services, Magnet Program Director, Associate Chief Nursing Officer responsible for Nursing Quality, Research and the Neuroscience Service Line, and Interim Chief Nursing Officer. She successfully led the organization to Magnet® designation in 2009 and in collaboration with Duke University Health System nursing achieved re-designation in 2014 as a health system. She served a 2-year term as the NCNA Triangle Regional Director, and two years on the Board of The Great 100 serving as steering and finance chair. Ms. Graff was recognized as a North Carolina Great 100 Nurse in 1998, and is ANCC board-certified as a Nurse Executive, Advanced (NEA-BC).
Michael D. Ward, PhD, RTR, FASRT, FMoSRT
Dr. Ward was reappointed to a third term on the board. He has served on the Board of Directors of ANCC since January 2015 as its public member. He is the Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Diversity & Professor for Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes-Jewish College in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Ward has served on and chaired numerous committees and commissions and has been very active in local, state, national and international radiologic science organizations. At the national level, Dr. Ward has served as Vice President, President-Elect, President, and Chairman of the Board of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists. Dr. Ward was appointed to the Board of Trustees of the ASRT Education and Research Foundation (the philanthropic arm of the ASRT), and from 2000 to 2003 was elected Chairman of the Board of the Foundation. In 2010, Dr. Ward was elected the 13th President of the International Society of Radiographers and Radiological Technologists.
Cole Edmonson, DNP, RN, FACHE, NEA-BC, FAAN
Dr. James “Cole” Edmondson, the Chief Nursing Officer at Texas Health Dallas Presbyterian Hospital, Dallas, TX, was appointed to the open board seat. His facility is a three-time Magnet® designated hospital. He is a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing and the American College of Healthcare Executives; and Nursing Executive Advanced-Board Certified by ANCC. He is a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Executive Nurse Fellow Alum.
Rosemary Luquire, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN, will complete her board service at the end of 2018, having served a maximum number of terms on the board. Continuing ANCC Board service in 2019 are: President Patricia Reid Ponte, DNSc, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN; Vice President Anne McNamara, PhD, RN; Treasurer Teresa Haller, MSN, MBA, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN; and Rhonda Anderson, DNSc(h), RN, FAAN, FACHE. Additionally, ANA Incoming President Ernest J. Grant, PhD, RN, FAAN; ANA Enterprise Chief Executive Officer Loressa Cole, DNP, MBA, RN, FACHE, NEA-BC; and ANA Enterprise Chief Nursing Officer/Executive Vice President Debbie D. Hatmaker, PhD, RN, FAAN, will serve as ex-officio members of the board.
