About Project Firstline
Project Firstline is a collaborative effort, led by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), to unite diverse health care and public health experts to provide IPC training to the nation’s health care workforce. ANA is partnering with the CDC on this initiative.
The goal is to prepare front-line health care and public health professionals to protect themselves, their patients, and their communities from infectious disease threats such as COVID-19. An educated workforce is a powerful weapon to prevent healthcare-associated infections (HAI), including those caused by antibiotic-resistant pathogens.

The American Nurses Association (ANA), representing the interests of the nation’s 4.2 million registered nurses, is pleased to announce the launch of Project Firstline, a new collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Core Training to address immediate workforce education needs, delivered via short, easily-accessible training videos.
Practical Tools to support everyone working in a health care facility as they implement IPC protocols and procedures.
Mentorship to connect infection control experts with their communities and serve as ongoing resources.
Technical Capacity Building to leverage the public health workforce to facilitate knowledge-sharing among health departments and local clinicians.
Innovation to deepen knowledge and better inform infection control recommendations, as well as develop advanced platforms and content to provide IPC training to a diverse range of learners.
