Dr. Bradley is an Assistant Professor at the University of Minnesota School of Nursing, where she serves as the Director of Simulation. She has a history of intra and extramural funding for research in simulation, debriefing, instrument development, and the impact of debriefing training on student knowledge outcomes. She has served as a co-investigator on three SBIR studied funded by the NIH, and a project funded by HRSA to develop a preceptor model and simulation curriculum to prepare Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners. Dr. Bradley will serve as the study PI to oversee all research activities, and as the UMN site coordinator which includes enrollment of human subjects, data collection, and data analysis. Dr. Bradley will oversee the expert nursing panel, content validity evaluations, and will contribute to the development of the IVRS scenarios and all training materials.

Dr. Loomis is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Purdue University where she demonstrates scholarship of teaching and learning by preparing faculty for teaching reflective thinking, investigating new methods for teaching with technology, and training faculty in simulation and debriefing. Her commitment to innovation in teaching was recognized with an internal grant, the IMPACT funding award, the Purdue Instructional Innovation internal grant, and Teaching for Tomorrow fellowship. Dr. Loomis has been recognized as an exemplary leader and was the recipient of the Purdue University Early Career Teaching award in honor of her dedication to student excellence. Dr. Loomis will lead the enrollment of human subjects, implementation of the intervention at PSON, data collection, and debriefing.
Dr. Aebersold has an extensive background in simulation-based learning and virtual and augmented reality development. Grant funding includes an R21 from NIH to develop a facilitator training program using a 3D virtual reality platform (Second Life) to support HIV prevention in Latino Youths, which was successful in adapting an f2f train the trainer program into the virtual environment. She is currently a Co-I on an NCI funded R-25, which leverages simulation, on-line learning, and virtual tools to improve the safety of chemotherapy administration for nurses and pharmacists. She has recently completed two MDHHS funded projects to create immersive 360 videos to support educating advanced practice nurses in caring for Veterans and patients who are deaf or hard of hearing. She is a Faculty Innovator in Residence in the extended realities initiative which focuses on using virtual technologies in education.
Dr. DiClemente’s professional background includes a focus on students and learning. She has taught at the undergraduate level for many years and has taught in didactic lecture, simulation, and clinical education. As Clinical Assistant Professor and Undergraduate Nurse Educator, she continues to practice with undergraduate nursing students in the health care setting. She works with students on nursing units and assists students with implementing evidence-based practices and quality improvement initiatives.
Dr. Flaten is a Clinical Associate Faculty and Assistant Dean for Pre-licensure Programs at the University of Minnesota School of Nursing. Dr. Flaten is a key leader curriculum development and clinical education, including the integration of simulation, across the curriculum in the traditional and accelerated pre-licensure programs. Dr. Flaten also supports a Writing Enriched Curriculum initiative across the University to support learners in clinical, scholarly and reflective writing. Dr. Flaten’s scholarly work is directed toward preparing graduates ready for practice and leadership. Dr. Flaten’s clinical experetise is focused in critical care and public health at local and state levels.
Dr. Dreifuerst is an Associate Professor and Director of the PhD Program at Marquette University and will serve as the Senior Research Consultant. She is an established nursing education researcher with significant extramural funding and publications. Most recently she was Co-PI on two NCSBN studies in simulation use for nurse practitioner clinical competency development. Her international reputation as an expert in nursing education and her past research focused on fostering the development of clinical reasoning and clinical judgement in nursing students will support the development of the simulation scenarios and the interpretation of the IVRS dashboard data. She will develop the training for the CCEI users based on training she used as PI for a national study of DML use in prelicensure clinical settings. Using her expertise in DML debriefing, Dr. Dreifuerst will oversee the development of training materials for the IVRS debriefing.
Dr. Johnson is an Associate Professor and Clinical/Simulation Director for the Traditional Undergraduate Program at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing. Dr. Johnson is an expert psychometrician who developed the original Knowledge Assessment Scale (KAS) and will adapt and test the MKAS for this project. Dr. Johnson will provide expert consultation and oversight of the electronic administration of all study instruments. Dr. Johnson’s program of research focuses on best practices in simulation and use of observer roles, educational theory, debriefing, and knowledge instrument development and testing. He was trained in advanced quantitative methods/statistical analysis at the Leadership Center for Nursing Education Research at Widener University.
